What motivates you?
I grew up with this sport, it is my life so I want to keep playing and enjoying the sport. This sport has taken me to Europe; I played in Iceland – that was one the biggest adventures of my life. I went to a very foreign land where I didn’t speak the language, didn’t know the customs and then there’s the weather. Iceland was just so cold. I enjoyed my time there and I’m very grateful that I was able to play soccer there.
Who are your heroes?
My parents, they have always been there for me. Through the good and bad, they are always ready to support me. On the field, I owe a lot to coach Marquez who helped me develop my game from a young age.
What is your favorite soccer movie?
I am a big fan of Cafu, so I’d say his documentary.
What is your favorite book?
One of my favorite books is from my childhood, and it’s funny because the title is similar to my name – Pollyanna.
What is the first thing you sing at karaoke?
I can’t sing, at all. I would show the team how to samba. I listen to that and a lot of other music.
If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would that be?
Pasta. I love Fettuccine Alfredo!
If you could have one superpower, what would that be?
Teleportation – that way I can avoid flying. You spend so much time at an airport. I want to make better use of my time.
Describe your perfect day.
I am lucky because I had a lot of perfect days this summer. I was able to compete at the Olympic Games in my home country in front of family and friends.
If you were stuck on an island, what teammates would you like to have with you?
Boris, of course, then I’d say Andressa and Lydia. Boris (her pup) makes me so happy and he is a member of my family.
What are your goals for the next 5-10 years?
I want to improve as a player, you can always work on your game. I want to play a bigger role on my national team as we prepare for the next World Cup and Olympic Games.
