HOUSTON (Friday, June 28, 2019) – The Houston Dash will look to earn their fourth victory of the 2019 NWSL regular season Saturday evening as they take on the Portland Thorns for the first time this season at 7:30 p.m. CDT at the BBVA Stadium. The Dash are off to the best start in club history with 13 points through nine games. A win tomorrow could help Houston extend the longest regular-season scoring streak at home in club history.
Here are three key points ahead of Saturday’s game:
- EXTENDING SCORING STREAK AT HOME – Off to the best start in club history, the Dash will look to extend their longest regular-season scoring streak at home through thirteen consecutive games. A win against the Thorns tomorrow would also help Houston to continue their most successful season under head coach James Clarkson.
- KEALIA OHAI MAKES 100TH APPEARANCE – With her next appearance, the forward and captain for the Dash will reach the 100-appearance mark in the NWSL, all of which as a member of the Dash. Ohai is the ninth player in the league to have played 100 games for the same club. As the second overall selection in the 2014 NWSL College Draft, Ohai has seen her career reach its highs in being named to the NWSL Best XI in 2016 following an 11-goal season, as well as the lows in losing half of her 2017 season to a torn ACL. Through the changes in coaching staff and player personnel since the franchise’s inception, Ohai has remained a stalwart and essential member for the Dash.
- DASH REPRESENT IN THE WORLD CUP – Six Dash players took part in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France representing their home countries. Dash forward Rachel Daly and England have reached the semi-finals of the tournament and will face the USWNT at 2 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, July 2nd at Parc Olympique Lyonnais. Canadian players Lindsay Agnew, Allysha Chapman, Nichelle Prince and Sophie Schmidt lost in the round of 16 against Sweden, while Clare Polkingorne and Australia fell to Norway after securing a spot past the group stage. Five of the six players that represented the Dash in France will be back in Houston to take on the North Carolina Courage on Friday, July 5th at Sahlen’s Stadium in Cary, North Carolina.The Houston Dash will look to earn their fourth victory of the season against the Portland Thorns at the BBVA Stadium.
