Three Houston Dash players earned awards from their respective W-League teams after successful campaigns in Australia over the offseason. Clare Polkinghorne was named Player of the Year for Brisbane Roar, while Amber Brooks and Veronica Latsko took home Player of the Year and Golden Boot honors, respectively, for Adelaide United.
Polkinghorne captained Brisbane to their second consecutive top-two finish in the W-League, anchoring one of the tightest defenses in the league. The Australian international started 13 games for her hometown club, winning two-thirds of her duels and completing 75% of her passes throughout the season.
Brooks was a key figure in Adelaide's significant improvement in the 2018-19 after the team finished bottom of the table the year before. Not only was the American defender a cornerstone of the defense, she also served up three assists in 12 starts during the campaign.
Latsko followed up a sensational rookie season in the NWSL with more of the same with Adelaide in the W-League, scoring nine goals in 12 starts to lead the team. Her mark was also tied for second-most in the entire league, only behind Sam Kerr's 13 tallies for Perth Glory.
