Houston Dash midfielders Carli Lloyd andMorgan Brian, as well as goalkeeper Jane Campbell, have been selected by U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Jill Ellis for the 2017 Tournament of Nations. The 23-player roster was released this morning by U.S. Soccer.
The two-time reigning FIFA Women’s Player of the Year has scored 97 goals in 239 games for the USWNT and is three goals away from becoming the sixth player in U.S. history to score 100 international goals. Since returning from Manchester City Women, Lloyd has scored one goal in five appearances for Houston, which is currently on a five-game unbeaten streak.
Brian has earned 66 caps with the USWNT and won the Golden Ball as the most outstanding player at the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship in Houston last February. The 24-year-old midfielder has appeared in nine games for Houston this year.
Campbell returns to the national team after representing the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team in the 2017 Women’s U-23 Open Nordic Tournament in June. The goalkeeper was tallied two clean sheets in six appearances for the club this season. Campbell was selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft.
