Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell and midfielder Haley Hanson have been named to the U-23 U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the Nordic Cup, U.S. Soccer announced earlier today.
The Dash duo will face England, Norway and Sweden at the Women’s U-23 Nordic Tournament during the FIFA international break from Aug. 29-Sept. 3. The U.S. open the tournament against Sweden on Aug. 29, two days later they face England and close the tournament against Norway on Sept. 3.
Campbell has started 22 games for Houston this season and is second in the league in saves with 81. The Stanford product surpassed her career high of 65 saves in a season to set a new franchise record. The second-year shot stopper has tallied three shutouts this year to match her career high set in 2017.
Hanson has appeared in 17 games for Houston this season after being selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft in January.
The Houston duo are two of six players on the roster that have earned a cap at the senior level. Both Campbell and Hanson made their debut with the senior team at BBVA Compass Stadium. Campbell earned her first cap in 2017 in a 5-1 victory over Russia on April 9. Hanson earned her first cap on April 12 as the USWNT defeated Mexico 6-2 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Both players will be available for selection as Houston hosts Carli Lloyd and Sky Blue FC this weekend for Fan Appreciation Night, presented by BBVA Compass. Tickets for the match start at $19 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com.
