As Australia’s W-League continues deep into season, our Houston Dash players out on loan are in the midst of all the action.
Midfielder Haley Hanson and the Melbourne Victory fell short in the Melbourne Derby. A battle to the death, Hanson’s Victory fell 1-0 to Melbourne City FC in the final minutes of the match. Defender Ari Romero and Perth Glory earned their first point of the season in a draw with Canberra United with a dramatic, 90th minute goal to even the score.
Defender Amber Brooks and Adelaide United fell in a close match with Brisbane Roar FC. Despite being able to rally after going down two goals early, Adelaide United was unable to come away with any points and eventually fell 3-2 to Brisbane.
Midfielder Sofia Huerta and Sydney FC took a 2-0 win over the Newcastle Jets. To make the win even sweeter, Dash forward Veronica Latsko made her return to the pitch in the 66th minute after suffering an ACL injury in April. Latsko has re-signed with the Houston Dash and will return for the 2020 season.
Coming up in Week 6, Romero and Perth Glory are on the road against Melbourne City on Thursday, December 19 at 2:30 am CDT. On Friday, December 20, Latsko, Huerta and Sydney FC play crosstown rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in the Sydney Derby at 12:00 am CDT. At the same time, Hanson and the Victory host Brisbane Roar. Wrapping up the weekend, defender Amber Brooks and Adelaide United host Canberra United on Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 pm CDT.
