Captain Clare and Brisbane enter Sunday’s match after finishing the regular season in second place with a regular season record of 6-2-4. The team wrapped up its regular season, with a 1-0 defeat to Adelaide United last weekend.
Meanwhile, Sofia and Sydney FC come into the postseason just one point behind Brisbane in the standings, with a regular season record of 6-1-5. However, Sydney comes into Sunday’s semifinal having defeated the Roar twice in this year’s regular season matchups. The Sky Blues first pommeled the Roar in Round Six after a Caitlin Foord hat trick led Sydney FC to a 5-1 victory. Their next win over Brisbane came in Round 12 as a Foord brace led the team to a 3-1 result.
The winner of this weekend’s semifinal between the two teams will face the winner of Saturday’s Melbourne Victory vs. Perth Glory matchup in next weekend’s championship match.
