Last weekend, Australia’s W-League kicked off its 11th season. Defender Amber Brooks kicked off the new season as Adelaide United’s captain. Although it ended in a 2-1 loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers, Brooks’ efforts earned her a spot in Team of the Week.
Dash midfielders Sofia Huerta and Haley Hanson faced off against each other in a matchup between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory. Huerta and Sydney FC came away with a 3-0 win in which both she and Hanson played the full match. This match was Hanson’s W-League debut.
This week, Hanson and the Melbourne Victory take on Brisbane Roar this Thursday. On Friday, Brooks and Adelaide United look to bounce back as they take on Sydney FC, which features Huerta and forward Veronica Latsko. Defender Ari Romero will be on a bye week with Perth Glory.
