There are only two weeks left of regular season play in Australia’s W-League, and it is becoming increasingly clear that we will see a couple of Houston Dash faces in playoffs. Last week was filled with derbies, and Dash players shined throughout the weekend.
Forward Veronica Latsko and Sydney FC started the weekend off with a bang in a whopping 4-0 victory over the Western Sydney Wanderers. Latsko opened up scoring early, finding the back of the net with a volley in the second minute of play. This was Latsko’s second goal for Sydney FC. Her performance also earned her a spot in the W-League Team of the Week.
Defender Ari Romero and Perth Glory earned their second win of the season in a 4-2 win over the Brisbane Roar. Midfielder Haley Hanson and Melbourne Victory fell 4-0 in the Melbourne Derby to crosstown rivals Melbourne City.
This weekend, Latsko and Sydney FC host Romero and Perth Glory on Friday, February 21 at 11:00 p.m. CDT. Hanson and the Melbourne Victory are on the road to take on the Newcastle Jets on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 p.m. CDT. Both matches will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
