BBVA Stadiumwill host two doubleheadersfeaturing the four-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion U.S. Women’s National Team in June as part of the U.S. Soccer2021 WNT Summer Series, pres. by AT&T 5G,the U.S. Soccer Federation announced today.
The reigning world champions return to Houston on June 10 to face Portugal at 7:30 p.m. CDT and play against Jamaica on June 13 at 9 p.m. CDT.The Summer Series represents the final opportunities for fans to watch the U.S. Women’s National Team prior to their departure for Japan in July. The USWNT travel to the Olympic Games in search of their fifth gold medal in the tournament and first since the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
“We are honored to host the U.S. Women’s National Team and everyone participating in the Summer Series in June,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager of BBVA Stadium, Juan Rodriguez. “This is the first international event at BBVA Stadium in more than a year. For us, a venue that has hosted the most international events in the country prior to the pandemic, it is an honor to return to the international stage.”
Each Summer Series matchday will feature a match prior to the USWNT contest, beginning on June 10 when Jamaica faces Nigeria at 4:30 p.m. CDT.Led by former Houston Dash head coach Randy Waldrum, Nigeria will remain in Houston to face Portugal in the opening match of the doubleheader on June 13 at 6 p.m. CDT.

TheSummer Series is the first international competition hosted by BBVA Stadium since the Concacaf Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship held in February 2020. The U.S. Women’s National Team won the regional qualifying tournament to earn a berth at the Olympic Games and will compete in Group G. The four-time Olympic Games gold medalists will face Sweden on July 21 in Tokyo, New Zealand on July 24 in Saitama and Australia on July 27 in Kashima in group play.
