Frisco, Texas (April 27, 2024) – Houston Dynamo FC fell 2-0 on the road to FC Dallas tonight, playing 85 minutes of the match with 10 men after defender Griffin Dorsey was shown a red card early in the match.
Dallas opened scoring in the 55th minute when Petar Musa found the bottom left corner of the net with a right-footed chip.
Dallas doubled its lead in the 81st minute when Sebastian Ibeagha headed a ball down into the bottom of the net from the far post.
Houston went down to 10 men five minutes into the match when Dorsey was deemed to have fouled Marco Farfan as he was running onto a ball towards the penalty box. Dallas almost capitalized on the ensuing free kick, but Asier Illarramendi’s shot hit the right post.
Houston had their first dangerous chance in the 15th minute when midfielder Artur played a long ball to forward Aliyu Ibrahim, who forced a sliding block by goalkeeper Maarten Paes.
Midfielder Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla threaded a ball to Ibrahim in the 33rd minute, who managed to beat two defenders to control the ball and get a shot off. However, his attempt was blocked by Nkosi Tafari Burgess.
Goalkeeper Steve Clark was called into action in the 43rd minute when a ball fell to the feet of Musa in the six-yard box. The veteran shot stopper made himself big enough to block the shot and record his first of three saves on the night.
Clark made a quick-reaction save in the 65th minute, diving down to defend the near post and keep Houston within a goal.
Dynamo captain Héctor Herrera made his second appearance of the season, entering the match in the 66th minute.
Defender Micael made a crucial block in the box in the 74th minute to keep Houston within a goal of Dallas.
In the 84th minute, forward McKinze Gaines made his debut for Houston, who traded for the 26-year-old attacker from Nashville SC earlier this week.
