The older age groups of the Houston Dynamo Academy were out of action this past weekend, but the U-13s and 14s were still in action at Houston Sports Park against Austin-based Lonestar SC.
U-14 – Win 3-1: Alex Borsos and Christian Castaneda scored in the 25th and 29th minutes, respectively, to give the Dynamo a two-goal cushion. Lonestar pulled one goal back in the 40th minute, but substitute Luis Lugo added a final tally in the dying minutes of the game to seal all three points.
U-13 – Win 1-0: Zacarias Escobar-Bowie got the game's only 16 minutes into the match for the Dynamo. Goalkeepers Walter Kilgore and Juan Esteban Godinez Castellanos each spent a half in goal to keep the shutout.
EFCL Course Takes Place at Houston Sports Park
Houston Sports Park played host to a week of classes for MLS Development Academy coaches looking to earn their Elite Formation Coaching License (EFCL). The license is part of a partnership between MLS and the French Football Federation that began in 2013. This is the third iteration of the 14-month youth development course. Dynamo Academy director of player development James Clarkson and U13-U15 technical coordinator/U17 head coach Tom Harris received their certifications in the previous courses; U16-U23 technical coordinator/U15 head coach Scott James is currently undertaking the course.
