When you defeat the LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center, your team is bound to be recognized with certain honors. Those honors came on Tuesday, when Houston Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell and head coach Dominic Kinnear were named to the MLS Team of the Week. Andrew Driver, whose game-winning strike is up for MLS Goal of the Week, was named honorable mention.
Kinnear led his team to their first road win of 2013 and did so without the services of five-time MLS all star Brad Davis. This is the second Coach of the Week honor in 2013 for Kinnear. MLSsoccer.com's Nicholas Rosano had this to say about the Dynamo head coach:
His Dynamo team went a long way towards getting that road game monkey off its back (and the Galaxy one, for that matter) with a well-executed 1-0 win at the Home Depot Center. Andrew Driver is looking more and more like an inspired signing and the Dynamo have rarely looked better without Brad Davis.
Despite missing Robbie Keane, the LA Galaxy attack was strong on Sunday, led by Landon Donovan, Mike Magee and U.S. U-20 international Jose Villarreal. Boswell led a sturdy defensive line that allowed 19 shots on goal, but only two of which reached Tally Hall (one being a penalty kick). The center back found himself in the right position more often than not and nearly put the Dynamo ahead in the first half with a header that Carlo Cudicini remarkably kept out of the net. Rosano had this to say about Boswell:
A major part of Houston's clean sheet and 1-0 win in LA. Read the game well, was unafraid to put his body on the line and even looked improved in his passing, which has previously taken some flak.
