The Houston Dash announced today that Brian Ching will step down as the managing director to focus on personal and entrepreneurial interests, but will serve as an adviser to the team for the 2019 NWSL season.
Dash Head Coach James Clarkson will take on the role of technical director and will oversee all soccer operations for the team, including roster and player personnel decisions.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to have worked for the Dash. I remember the first time we discussed the idea of creating an NWSL club, and six years later we have the most talented team in the history of the club,” Ching said. “I will be available to help in any way possible as James gets acclimated with the league, starting with the NWSL College Draft next week. Fans can find me at BBVA Compass Stadium as I support James and the rest of the team for an exciting NWSL season.”
Ching has served as the managing director since the club was founded on Dec. 11, 2013. Ching hired three head coaches during his tenure, including Clarkson, who was hired in December.
“I am very grateful to have Brian as a resource as I continue to transition into this role with the club. He has done a phenomenal job assembling one of the most talented rosters in Dash history,” Clarkson said. “We look to build on that next week as we continue to prepare for the draft and an exciting 2019 season.”
In addition to supporting the club, Ching will remain with the organization as an ambassador through the Dynamo Legends program and will remain involved with Dynamo Charities and other community initiatives.
