Welcome to edition No. 3 of my weekly blog. It will appear on the new HoustonDynamo.com every Monday.

Canetti's Corner - May 17, 2010 -

Writing after a loss is never easy. Obviously, we are not happy with the result at Real Salt Lake. We have never been a club that has offered excuses, so there is no sense in starting now. We simply had a bad game and need to play better.

The guys are looking forward to a good week of preparation with plans of coming back strong this weekend vs. D.C. United (7 p.m., Robertson Stadium).

It was a welcome bye weekend for the team after a tough stretch of four games in 13 days. With the busy schedule and mounting injuries, the break was needed. The team went through a good training session on Saturday and took Sunday off.

One day soon, I hope to write a piece that does not include the topic of injuries and unavailable players. Unfortunately, that is not the case this week.

Eddie Robinson (knee) is coming along and we hope to have him back for Saturday.

Cam Weaver (knee) is questionable but looking better.

Luis Landin (concussion) is probable. He missed the RSL game because of a concussion. He suffered it against FC Dallas and was experiencing lingering symptoms that kept him out of Thursday’s game.

Joe Ngwenya (ITC) is questionable. We are supposed to hear some feedback from FIFA on Tuesday. We'll see …

Brian Ching, Andrew Hainault, and Pat Onstad (national team call-ups) are out.

I am convinced that the long string of missing players has contributed to our inconsistency thus far.

Odds and ends …

MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Manchester United executive Richard Arnold will be in Houston on Tuesday to conduct a press conference about the 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star Game. We are very excited to have these gentlemen here to share their views on the big game.

More than 16,000 All-Star tickets have been sold through an 11-day private sale. This is a sign of the high demand to see the match. Group sales are open to the public starting on Tuesday.

The Dynamo Academy will play the U-17 U.S. national team at Robertson Stadium after the game on Saturday. I encourage fans to stay and watch some bright, young soccer talent.

Next month is the Dynamo’s first-ever Residential Elite Camp at OurLady of the Lake University in San Antonio. It runs June 13-17. It is open to boys born between 1992 and 1999. It will be a great experience. Some spaces remain available, and information can be found at //www.houstondynamo.com/residentialelitecamp.

I’d like to invite everyone out to what we’re calling the Celebrity Pour Event at Lucky’s Pub on Wednesday, May 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dynamo players will bartend and provide free domestic beer and wine to Dynamo fans. It is a charity event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and spearheaded by Senior Vice President Rocky Harris, midfielder Richard Mulrooney, and President / General Manager Oliver Luck.

I want to recognize Ann Eccles, who helped organize the Geoff Cameron tribute on May 1. I did not give her due credit in last week’s blog.

Thanks again for your emails. Keep them coming to ccanetti@houstondynamo.com.

See you Saturday, and here’s to three home points!
