CONCACAF announced today the schedule for the 2012-13 quarterfinal rounds. The Dynamo face Mexican club Santos Laguna in a home-and-home series, with the first match to be played Tuesday, March 5 at BBVA Compass Stadium. Houston will then travel to Mexico for the second leg on Wednesday, March 13. Both matches will kick off at 7 p.m. CT.
The Dynamo advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournamnet after finishing first in Group 3. Santos advanced to the quartefinals after winning Group 1.
The 2011-12 CCL runners-up are led by U.S. men's national team striker Herculez Gomez (pictured, above) and former Mexican national team goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez, who has 100 caps for El Tri.
Individual tickets for the home leg are not yet on sale, but tickets are available via full and partial season ticket packages.
The Dynamo are in the quarterfinals of Champions League for the first time since the 2008-09 edition. Houston lost to Mexican club Atlante 4-1 on aggregate in that tournamnet.
Houston's CCL opener will come three days after the Dynamo open their MLS season on March 2 against D.C. United.
If the Dynamo advance past Santos, they will play the winner of the Seattle Sounders - Tigres series. The winner of the 2012/13 CONCACAF Champions League will earn a berth to the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.
