A trio of Houston Dynamo players featured in international friendlies on Friday. Boniek Garcia and Luis Garrido each started for the Honduras national team in a 6-0 loss at Japan. Defender DaMarcus Beasley came off the bench for the United States as Colombia scored late for a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage in London.
The Dynamo midfielders both started for the third consecutive games as Los Cathrachos suffered a heavy defeat at Toyota Stadium in Tokyo. Garcia (70 minutes) and Garrido (67 minutes) exited the game with the score 4-0 and the Japanese added two more goals after their departure.
Honduras will remain in Asia for Tuesday’s friendly match against China at Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou.
Beasley made his first appearance for the U.S. since the 2014 World Cup, entering at left back in the 70th minute in place of Greg Garza. The Yanks took a 1-0 lead through Jozy Altidore’s penalty goal in the 10th minute, but Colombia’s Carlos Bacca equalized in the 60th minute. Colombia completed the comeback in the 87th minute as Teófilo Gutiérrez scored the winner.
Beasley now has 121 career appearances for the U.S. and will have a chance for cap number 122 on Tuesday when the Americans face the Republic of Ireland at Aviva Stadium in Dublin (1:45 p.m. CT, ESPN2, Univision). Beasley has made at least one appearance for the U.S. national team for 14 consecutive years.
