For the second time in as many road games, the Houston Dynamo used a dramatic late goal to pull out a result, as defender Bobby Boswell scored in the 90th minute to give Houston a deserved 1-1 tie with the New England Revolution Wednesday night. The Dynamo are now unbeaten in their last four games (2-0-2).
After allowing a goal in just the fourth minute to former Dynamo defender Ryan Cochrane, Houston dominated the match, outshooting New England 15-5 after the goal. Only an outstanding night from New England goalkeeper Matt Reis, who made seven saves, kept the Dynamo from overwhelming the Revolution.

Houston finally tied the game in the 90th minute when a Brad Davis corner kick found Carlo Costly, and his header was saved by Matt Reis. Bobby Boswell reacted first to poke the ball home from close range for his third goal of the season and his second game-tying goal. In Houston’s last road game, at Philadelphia on August 6, the Dynamo tied the game on an 84th-minute goal from Geoff Cameron. The Dynamo have earned eight ties in 12 road games on the season.
After a collision at the final whistle, Houston midfielder Adam Moffat was shown a second yellow card and will be suspended for Saturday’s game against Real Salt Lake. New England goalkeeper Matt Reis was ejected and will also serve a one-game suspension.
It was the second of three games in seven days for Houston, which will host Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Robertson Stadium.
Houston is now 3-1-5 in its last nine games, dating back to June 25, and trails third-place Sporting Kansas City by one point in the Eastern Conference. The Dynamo are now unbeaten in the last 11 matches captain Brian Ching has started (4-0-7), dating back to September 2010.
The tie, coupled with a 1-0 win on April 17, allowed Houston to win the season series against New England for the first time in the Dynamo’s six-year history.
The come-from-behind result was the eighth of the season for the Dynamo, who are 1-6-7 when the opposing team scores the first goal.
The Dynamo dominated shots and possession for the fourth straight game, controlling 61.3 percent of the possession in the match, earning 12 corner kicks to New England’s 3, and earning more crosses from the run of play by a 28-12 margin.
Midfielder Brad Davis made his 170th career start for the Dynamo in all competitions, tying Pat Onstad’s club record. Davis is already the team leader in all-time games played.
Forward Calen Carr came on as a substitute in the 80th minute, making his Dynamo debut and his first competitive appearance since suffering a concussion during preseason with the Chicago Fire. Midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson and defender Jermaine Taylor made their first starts since July 23, and midfielder Alex Dixon made his first appearance since July 30.
Defender Bobby Boswell made his 135th career appearance for the Dynamo, 130 of them starts. He also made his 20th MLS appearance of the season, giving him at least 20 appearances in all seven of his professional seasons.
The Dynamo played without forward Will Bruin (knee surgery) and midfielders Colin Clark (knee) and Danny Cruz (quad).
