While three Dynamo Academy products are on their way back to Houston this weekend in the hopes of being named the NCAA Division I National Champions, another alum won the NAIA National Championship last Saturday.
Sophomore defender Eric Tello and Hastings College (Neb.) took home their second NAIA championship with a 1-0 win over the University of Rio Grande on Saturday night in Delray Beach, Florida. Tello's overtime header against Grand View University in the semifinals sent Hastings to the national championship game. The Houston native was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Tello started 21 games for the Broncos en route to an undefeated 24-0-1 record, scoring three goals and adding an assist. His performance in 2016 landed him on the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) All-Conference First Team.
