The Houston Dynamo Academy U-13 and U-14 teams claimed a series victory on the road against FC Dallas on Saturday.
The U-13 team were dominant in the first half and goals from Xavi Garza and Gael Gonzalez gave Houston a share of the points with a 2-2 draw.
Jaidyn Contreras and Osagie Akhigbe scored for the U-14 squad to lead the Dynamo to a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas. With the victory Houston claimed the series in North Texas, the final meeting at any age group this fall season with FC Dallas.
The U-15 and U-16 teams played in an inter-academy training match on Saturday with the U16’s prevailing 4-3, while the Pre-Professional phase teams, U17 and U19 competed in the annual 9 v 9 Golden Ball inter-academy tournament at the HSP in lieu of regular MLS next league matches.
“We are really pleased with the performances of the U13 and U14 groups this weekend in Dallas, especially in how we controlled the majority of the matches and exhibited and took strides in our game model. We will now turn our focus to the Copa Rayados which is an outstanding local tournament here in Houston.” said Paul Holocher, Academy Director.
Five teams will compete in the Copa Rayados beginning on Wednesday in north Houston. The U-13, U-15 and U-16 team who will compete in the U17 bracket of tournament supergroup. The Dynamo Academy will compete at the U-14 level with two teams in the supergroup. A full schedule is available here.
This week the Dynamo Academy also hosted the Louisiana Dynamo TDP program, a collaborative developmental program of several partner clubs, including Lafayette Dynamo Juniors and Baton Rouge Soccer club. The staff organized training sessions utilizing the Dynamo Academy methodology and arranged training matches for the players from Louisiana.
