It was a mixed bag this past weekend for the Dynamo Academy, presented by Statoil, as they faced Texas Rush at the Bear Branch Soccer Complex in The Woodlands.
The U-18s fell 3-2 to Rush to drop their record to 2-2-2 at this early juncture in the season. After conceding an early goal, Memo Rodriguez assisted Elo Ozumba to tie up the match in the first half. Rush fired back with two goals off of defensive lapses to take control of the match. Irvin Ramirez converted a 90th minute penalty to finalize the score.
The U-16 side fared better, earning a 1-1 draw to bring their record to 3-1-2. Juan Flores notched his third goal of the year in the first half with an assist from Roberto Marquez to take the lead. The Dynamo were unable to kill the match off, however, and conceded a stoppage time equalizer.
The Dynamo U-15s romped to a 5-0 win over Rush, bringing their record to 5-1-2 thus far. Omar, Luis Aquilar, Alejandro Lezama, Alejandro Saez and Thomas Depetris were the goalscorers for the Dynamo. Charles Filby and Trevor Kallendorf combined in goal to keep the clean sheet.
The U-14 team also took care of business against Rush with a 2-0 victory. John Paul Nava and Hector Sandoval each scored within the first ten minutes of the second half to put the Dynamo ahead, and Jonathan Gomez and Will Powell kept the lead safe with the shutout in goal. The Dynamo U-14s are 4-3-1 this season.
The U-13s took it to Texas Rush with a 6-2 win, bringing their season record to 2-1-5. Jessie Ortiz netted a hat trick, while Julio Arzate and Marcello Palomino each supplied a goal and an assist. Domingo Mba scored the remaining goal for the Dynamo, and Jesus Velasquez also provided an assist.
