The Houston Dynamo Academy split the five-game series with FC Dallas at Houston Sports Park this Saturday to open Week 3 of MLS Next activity.
Heavy pressure from the U-13 side gave the Dynamo a 3-1 victory over Dallas in the opening game of the day. Santiago Chelala, Joshua Jaimes and Jorge Martinez scored for the Dynamo and Houston’s press was on full display in the second goal when the Dynamo won the ball off a goal kick.
The U-14 team fell to FC Dallas 1-0 in the second game of the day. The squad pushed for the equalizer in the final 20 minutes, but just missed the mark in their final home game prior to a four-game stretch away from Houston Sports Park.
A missed penalty kick swung momentum in the U-15 match as the Dynamo fell 2-0 to FC Dallas. Houston missed from the penalty spot and minutes later FC Dallas converted a penalty kick for the go-ahead goal. Jake Berrada and his teammates created opportunities as the Dynamo kept possession for most of the match but were held scoreless in their second match of the season.
Ricardo Garcia III scored in the opening minute of the U-17 triumph over FC Dallas. Garcia, Joseph Farouz, Ronaldo Guzman and Reese Miller found the back of the net to give the Dynamo a 4-1 victory. This was second game for the squad who opened the season against Dynamo Unidos earlier this month.
The Dynamo U-19 squad played to a 2-2 draw with their in-state rivals to wrap up activity at Houston Sports Park. Jathan Juarez and Juan Castilla scored for the Dynamo in the final match of the day. Castilla converted from the penalty spot after the Dynamo combined for 10 passes in the buildup for the final goal of the game.
