The Houston Dynamo Academy swept the weekend series with San Antonio Football Club at Houston Sports Park last weekend. Five age groups returned to MLS Next action and finished with a 4-0-1 record against San Antonio.
“It was a solid weekend by the Academy teams and players. San Antonio FC is always a strong club and academy, so these matches are always tough,” Dynamo Academy director Paul Holocher said. “The 17’s match in particular, that was a very high-level performancefrom both teams. I was able to observe those matches with both Matt Jordan and Tab Ramos,which is fantastic, as they are very committed to process of helping our young players continue to develop.”
The series began with a six-goal victory for the U-13 side at Houston Sports Park. Goals from Jorge Martinez, Xavi Garza, Jose Devora, Salem Sharif and a brace from Gael Gonzalez led the team to a 6-0 victory.
The U-14 side followed up with the second clean sheet of the day. Goals from Jaidyn Contreras, Leo Gitau and Daniel Menyoli gave the Dynamo a 3-0 victory over San Antonio.
The U-15 squad conceded an early goal in the second half but charged to a 3-1 victory on Saturday. Daniel Santana scored from the penalty spot followed by goals from Andre Gitauand Ancelin Gabaut-Diziere to claim three points.
The U-16 fell to a 3-1 deficit but earned a point after claiming a 4-4 draw at Houston Sports Park. Goals from Ben Alimasi, Parker Jackson and a brace from Zach Escobar-Bowie secured a point for the Dynamo.
Ricardo Garcia sparked the game-winning goal for the U-17 team after he dribbled down the flank and found Jack Bowers for the game-winning tally in Houston’s 2-1 victory over San Antonio. Alex Borsos scored the first goal of the game for the Dynamo.
