The Houston Dynamo Academy U14 team returned this week from their trip to the Cayman Islands, where they competed in the Cayman Airways U15 Invitational Cup.
The boys were one of twelve teams selected to compete in the prestigious tournament, which included other MLS Academies, as well as the development teams from Manchester City and the Cuban National Team, among others.
The Dynamo were placed in Group A, along with DC United, Manchester City and Cuba. They dropped the first two games against Cuba and Man. City, who would prove to be the top teams in the tournament, facing off against each other in the final. Their third match against DC United ended in a 1-1 draw, with the Dynamo goal scored by Ivan Leon.
"Although results did not go our way, it was a fantastic experience for our players and staff alike, testing ourselves against some of the top U15 teams from around the world,” said Dynamo Academy Staff Coach Daniel Roberts. “The tournament staff were exceptional and made the trip for our boys and staff a memorable one.”
The youngsters got to enjoy a little time away from the pitch as well; visiting a few of the local sites, swimming with dolphins and stingrays and snorkeling on the coral reefs.
