The Dynamo could add outside back Hunter Freeman to their roster as soon as Friday, Dynamo president Chris Canetti said Thursday night at a fan function to welcome Houston's new signees. With Colin Clark and Jason Garey already present - Jordan Graye was unable to travel to Houston for the presentation - Canetti identified Freeman as a potential new addition to the club, with his signing potentially announced by Friday.
Freeman, 25, played the last two seasons with IK Start in Norway after playing the first four years of his professional career with the Colorado Rapids, New York Red Bulls, and Toronto FC. The Tyler, Texas native was part of the United States U-17 residency program and played collegiate soccer at the University of Virginia. Wife Jaime was a successful college soccer player at Rutgers University in New Jersey and has also been playing professional soccer in Norway.
Internationally, Freeman played for the United States at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championships and in the 2008 CONCACAF Pre-Olympic Tournament alongside then-Dynamo players Stuart Holden and Pat Ianni. Freeman helped the U.S. qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing but was not named to the final roster.
