All-Star Week has arrived!


The festivities kicked off this past weekend with group stage matches of the SUM U-17 Cup and the Dynamo Charities Go for Goal 5K and Diesel Fun Run. The Dynamo U-17 squad got off to a blazing start this weekend, defeating Toronto FC 3-0 on Friday night and New England Revolution 3-1 Saturday night. Check out recaps and photo galleries from Day 1 and Day 2. Next up for Houston is a match against Chivas USA tonight, the only other team in the tournament with six points. U.S. U-17 national team coach Wilmer Cabrera has been in attendance at the event to scout new talent for his roster and the residency program.


The Dynamo first team did not have as successful a weekend, falling to the Columbus Crew 3-0 Saturday night. The team is frustrated with the mistakes that are costing the team points in the standings.


Dynamo COO Chris Canetti checks in with the latest edition of Canetti's Corner, in which he talks about the excitement of the coming week. Dynamo forward and All-Star Brian Ching is blogging for the Houston Chronicle about his All-Star experiences. Ching stopped by KHOU Sunday night to discuss this coming week. Richard Justice believes that Ching and teammate Brad Davis are All-Stars, not just for their work on the field, but for their work in the community. Ching said that he relishes the role as a promoter of soccer in this country.


Mexican sensation Javier Hernandez will officially join his new club, Manchester United, on Monday in Houston. One man that looks forward to his arrival is his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, who has taken Manchester United to new heights during his time at the club.


MLS Commissioner Don Garber sat down for a Q&A with the Houston Chronicle and spoke about the state of the league as we hit the All-Star break. Landon Donovan believes that the All-Star Game against Manchester United is another moment for fans to show their acceptance of soccer in America.
