The Houston Dynamo will open the 2011 Major League Soccer season on Saturday, March 19, hosting the Philadelphia Union at Robertson Stadium at 7:30 p.m., MLS announced today. The full league schedule will be announced by early February.
Purchase the Dynamo holiday pack which includes two tickets to opening day!
Tickets are available as part of Dynamo season ticket packages, currently frozen at 2010 prices through December 31. Fans can also purchase a Dynamo Holiday Pack, which includes two tickets to Opening Day and two limited-edition Dynamo holiday scarves for $49.95. Ticket information is available at HoustonDynamo.com/tickets or by calling (713) 276-7500.
The Dynamo are 2-0-1 all-time when opening the MLS season at home and are 3-0-2 all-time in home openers, including a 2-1 win last year against defending MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake. Houston went 0-1-1 against Philadelphia last year. This year’s opening match will be the earliest regular season opener in team history, surpassing the March 21, 2009 match.
All 18 MLS clubs will take the field during the opening First Kick week as they embark on a 34-game, balanced regular season in which every club will face each other twice – once at home, once on the road.
By the end of Week 2 of the 2011 season, 16 clubs will have played in front of their home fans. The schedule for the 18 home openers is below. The entire 2011 MLS regular season will be released by early February. Although MLS will schedule games on FIFA friendly dates, no games will be scheduled on FIFA World Cup Qualifying dates.
