The Houston Dynamo selected midfielder Brad Dunwell from Wake Forest with the eighth pick in Round Three of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas, earlier today.
Dunwell, the 56th overall selection in the draft, was named to the 2018 All-ACC Second Team and United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team after the 2018 season. The midfielder started 91 games, tallied 14 assists and scored a goal for the Demon Deacons over his four-year collegiate career. Dunwell led Wake Forest to four consecutive ACC Atlantic Division titles and an appearance in the 2016 NCAA College Cup Final at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Dunwell was one of two Wake Forest players invited to the Player Combine earlier this year. The defensive midfielder is the second 2019 draft pick to bring international experience to the Dynamo, after he spent time with the U.S. Youth National Team in 2011.
