Midfielder Eric Alexander was selected by FC Cincinnati with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday afternoon. As compensation, Houston received $50,000 in General Allocation Money.
After Alexander was selected, no other Dynamo players were eligible to be taken by FC Cincinnati in the Expansion Draft. The midfielder saw action in 21 matches for the Dynamo last season, starting 20, and tallied one goal and two assists. He also played in two games with one start during Houston’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title run. He has played in 212 career matches with 161 starts, recording nine goals and 24 assists, during his nine-year MLS career.
