While the Houston Dynamo are training in North Texas this weekend in preparation for a return to the field on Sept. 9, five Dynamo players are with their national teams for World Cup qualifying matches on Friday and Tuesday.
Defender DaMarcus Beasley and the United States host Costa Rica tonight at 5:30 p.m. CT at Red Bull Arena (ESPN, Univision). The U.S. (2-2-2, 8 points) is currently three points behind the Ticos (3-1-2, 11 points) in the Hexagonal standings for second place. The top three teams gain berths to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Hondurans Alberth Elis, Romell Quioto and Boniek García joined Los Catrachos to take on Trinidad & Tobago tonight at 7 p.m. CT (beIN Sports, NBC Universo). Both teams are currently at the bottom of the table, but Honduras (1-3-2, 5 points) is just two points back from fourth place and a playoff for a World Cup spot.
Sitting in fourth place currently is Panama and defender Adolfo Machado (1-1-4, 7 points). They face group leaders Mexico (4-0-2, 14 points) tonight at Estadio Azteca (8:30 p.m. CT | FS2, Univision).
Both Beasley and García departed to their respective national teams late last week, before Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas Gulf Coast. The remaining players' flights out of Houston were grounded due to the catastrophic flooding, but they were able to drive to Dallas for flights to join up with their teams.
