Four Houston Dynamo FC players were named to the rosters of their respective national teams for the upcoming window of 2022 World Cup Qualifier matches. The upcoming FIFA international window runs from Oct. 4 through Oct. 13 and all four players will return prior to Houston’s match against Seattle Sounders FC at BBVA Stadium on Oct. 16.
Midfielder Darwin Cerén was named to El Salvador’s roster and the Central American country will compete in three FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches against Panama, Costa Rica and Mexico. The midfielder has 71 career caps with the El Salvadorian national team and four career goals. El Salvador opened their bid to qualify for the World Cup last month and Cerén appeared in all three games.
Defender Maynor Figueroa and midfielder Boniek García were named to Honduras’ roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying window. Garcia currently holds 132 caps for the national team and Figueroa has 173 caps. Honduras will compete against Costa Rica, Mexico and Jamaica.
Defender Teenage Hadebe was named to the Zimbabwean national team for a pair of AFCON World Cup qualifying matches against Ghana on Oct. 9 and Oct. 12. The center back has seven career caps for the national team, having premiered for his country since 2016. Hadebe has led Houston to three clean sheets since making his debut on July 20 and earned MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week honors on Oct. 30.
