The Houston Dynamo fell to the New York Red Bulls 4-3 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey in their first road trip of 2016, bringing their record to 1-1-1 (4 points). Here are some notes from Saturday's match:
- The Dynamo have set an MLS record with 11 goals through three games this season. The previous high of 10 was set by the Chicago Fire in 1999.
- It was Bruin’s eighth-career multi-goal game. His last occurred in a 4-2 win over the Red Bulls on June 5, 2015.
- Alex's goal in the 65th minute was his first goal of the season and his first goal since Aug. 8, 2015 against the San Jose Earthquakes
- Bruin has four goals and one assist in his last two games against New York and is now the Dynamo’s all-time scorer against the Red Bulls, with four career goals.
- Bruin now has 49 career regular-season goals.
- GarcÃa has a goal and four assists in his last two games against the Red Bulls.
- GarcÃa passed Ricardo Clark, Corey Ashe, Will Bruin and Brian Mullan to move to third on the Dynamo’s assist list with 20 career MLS regular season assists.
- Ricardo Clark (20,648 career minutes in all competitions with the Dynamo) passed Bobby Boswell (20,637) for second on the Dynamo’s all-time minutes list.
- It was Bruin’s 150th career MLS regular-season appearance and 137th career regular-season start with the Dynamo to pass Pat Onstad for fifth on the club list.
- Owen Coyle made two changes to his starting lineup after last Saturday’s 5-0 win over FC Dallas. Boniek GarcÃa replaced Cristian Maidana and Leonel Miranda came in for Giles Barnes, with both players making their first two starts of the season. Maidana was unavailable due to a concussion while Barnes was out with a right hamstring strain.
- DaMarcus Beasley wore the captain’s armband with Barnes, the full-time captain out with the hamstring injury.
