Central Region qualifying for the 2016-17 Generation Adidas Cup comes to Houston Sports Park this Friday, Saturday, and Monday. The GA Cup pits 19 MLS U-17 academy sides against each other in one of the premier competitive youth soccer tournaments in North America.
The first round of qualifying took place in Kansas City over Columbus Day weekend last fall. The top teams from each group will advance to face international competition in the 2017 Generation adidas Cup Finals at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas from April 7 to April 15, 2017. Teams are awarded 3 points for a win, 2 points for a PK shootout win, 1 point for a PK shootout loss, and 0 points for a loss.
