Houston Dash midfielder Gabby Kessler announced her plans to retire from professional soccer earlier today.
Kessler (formerly Seiler) joined the Dash in a trade with the Portland Thorns before the 2021 NWSL season. The 27-year-old made 28 appearances across all completions for the team in 2021 and had 30 clearances and 40 interceptions.
The Peachtree, Ga. native was selected with the ninth overall selection in the 2018 NWSL College Draft by the Thorns. While in Portland, Kessler made 15 appearances and started 13 of those games.
Kessler also played collegiately at the University of Florida and the University of Georgia.
