The Houston Dash signed three of their 2018 NWSL College Draft selections in Kimberly Keever, Haley Hanson and Veronica Latsko. Additionally, Allison Murphy was signed as a discovery player, pending receipt of her ITC, the club announced today.
Hanson, 21, was the seventh overall selection in the 2018 NWSL College Draft after a four-year career at the University of Nebraska. The midfielder scored 19 goals and tallied seven assists over her career with the Cornhuskers. The Shawnee, Kansas native was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Second-Team, Second-Team All-Big Ten, United States Under-23 Women's National Team Training Camp in 2017.
Keever was the No. 12 overall pick from the University of Washington. The Santa Monica, California native finished her collegiate career with 22 career goals, including 11 game-winning goals, in 79 games. Keever was named to the All-Pac 12 Freshman Team in 2014, All-Pac 12 second team in 2015 and 2016, and the All-Pac 12 third team in 2017.
Latsko, 22, was selected by Houston with the No. 38 overall pick after a four-year collegiate career at the University of Virginia. The forward was named to the All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Tournament Team during her senior year in 2017. Latsko was a 2014 NCAA National Championship finalist and an ACC Championship finalist in 2014 and 2015.
Murphy’s path to BBVA Compass Stadium began at the Dash Open Tryouts in February. The Plano, Texas native earned an invitation to preseason camp and joined the team at the Thorns Spring Invitational last week. The Texas Tech product was drafted with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2016 NWSL College Draft by the Washington Spirit and played abroad in 2017 with Gustafs GoIF in Sweden.
With the signings, Houston currently has 21 players on its roster prior to opening the season against the Chicago Red Stars at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 25 at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets for the match start at $19 and are available here.
