The Houston Dash signed forward Makamae Gomera-Stevens to a two-year contract through the 2022 season, the Club announced today. Gomera-Stevens was drafted by Houston as the 27th overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft on Jan. 13.
The Kapolei, Hawaiinative joins the Dash after spendingfour successful seasons at Washington State University.In her decorated collegiate career, Gomera-Stevens started in 64 of 76 appearances at Washington State University and scored 13 goals, sevenof which were game-winners, while providing nine assists. In 2019, the midfielder helped the Cougs compete in the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
Gomera-Stevens became the first player in Cougars history to be called in to a U.S. Women’s Senior National Team Camp in December of 2019, and the second Hawaiian to earn a senior call-up.
The Dash now have 25 players on their active roster. Houston is set to host Kansas City NWSL in their regular season home opener on Sunday, May 23 at BBVA Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
