Houston Dynamo 2 has signed forward Kyle Edwards to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, the team announced today. Edwards is eligible to play for the team this evening Houston faces off against Sporting Kansas City II at 4:30 p.m. CDT at PNC Stadium.
“We are thrilled to have Kyle Edwards join us as part of Dynamo 2,” Houston Dynamo assistant general manager and director of soccer operations Nick Kowba said. “Kyle has proven that he can be a quality contributor to a team at a high level, and we believe that he will continue to demonstrate that in MLS NEXT Pro. The goal of Dynamo 2 is to push the first team to be successful, and Kyle can play a meaningful role in that effort.”
Edwards was drafted with the 86th overall pick by the Dynamo in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. Since getting drafted, Edwards spent two seasons with the United Soccer League’s Rio Grande Valley FC, where he recorded six goals and three assists in 23 appearances with the club.
Prior to joining RGV FC, Edwards played for USL League Two’s Brazos Valley Cavalry, where he jointly won the 2019 Golden Boot award.
Internationally, Edwards represents Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, where he has made 20 appearances and scored one goal. He has a green card as a permanent United States resident and will count as a domestic player on the Houston Dynamo 2 roster.
