The Houston Dynamo have acquired general allocation money and a second-round selection in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft from Orlando City SC in exchange for defender Corey Ashe, it was announced today.
Ashe was the second-longest tenured Dynamo player after he was drafted by the club in the second round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. Ashe, 29, was part of the MLS Cup-winning squad in 2007 and appeared in 266 games in all competitions with the Dynamo. He is second on the club’s all-time appearance list, fourth on the club list with 196 starts and fourth with 27 assists in all competitions.
“We’d like to thank Corey for his dedication and commitment to the Houston Dynamo over the years,” Dynamo VP/general manager Matt Jordan said. ”We appreciate his professionalism both on and off the field and we wish him well with his new club.”
The Virginia Beach, Virginia native is also second on the franchise chart with 211 career regular-season games and fourth with 155 regular-season starts. A two-time MLS All-Star, Ashe tallied four goals and 27 assists in his nine years with Dynamo.
