The Houston Dynamo have extended midfielder Brad Davis’ contract to a second day, the club announced today. Davis originally signed a one-day contract on February 16.
Davis will be available for selection in tonight’s match against the New York Red Bulls at BBVA Compass Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, tickets are available at HoustonDynamo.com, by calling 713-276-GOAL, or at the BBVA Compass Stadium box office.
“I was a little disappointed when I signed back in February that I wasn’t able to make an impact on the field,” Davis said. “So it was great to get that phone call and have the chance to put on the Dynamo orange for another day."
Davis has the opportunity to extend his Dynamo career records for assists (104), game-winning assists (34), games played (271), games started (252), minutes played (21,768), shots (437), shots on goal (184), corner kicks (995) tonight.
"When we learned that Romell (Quioto) would be out for the weekend, it was a no-brainer to call in Brad for another day," Dynamo president Chris Canetti said. "He's a Dynamo legend; it'll be great to have him back at BBVA Compass Stadium."
Davis, who wore No. 11 throughout his career, is currently in negotiations with Andrew Wenger for rights to the jersey number for the night.
