Houston Dynamo FC came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Los Angeles Football Club at Banc of California Stadium this evening.
Los Angeles took the lead in the 50th minute after a corner kick from Carlos Vela skipped across the face of goal and found José Cifuentes at the far post. The Ecuadorian midfielder calmly finished at the far post for the opening goal of the game.
Houston equalized eight minutes later after forward Fafa Picault dribbled past two defenders to get into the box. Picault found Maxi Urruti near the penalty spot for his fifth goal of the season.
LAFC forward Diego Rossi had the first shot of the game in the opening minutes of the match, but his effort was off target at the near post.
Marco Fafan found Rossi inside the box in the 11th minute with a one-two sequence, but his shot hit the outside net at the near post. Los Angeles’ offensive push continued and 10 minutes later Eduard Atuesta just missed the inside of the far post with a shot from outside the box.Dynamo goalkeeper Marko Maric was well positioned to handle LAFC’s opportunities in the first half and finished with four saves this evening.
The Dynamo return to BBVA Stadium on June 23 to host Portland Timbers FC and finish the week on the road against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, June 26.
