Houston Dynamo FC signed defender Micael through 2024 with club options for 2025 and 2026, the club announced today.

"We are excited to sign Micael to a first team contract after a stellar campaign with Dynamo 2 last year,” Dynamo general manager, Pat Onstad said. “The purpose of our second team is to develop players who can make an impact in MLS. Micael used his time with Dynamo 2 last season to assimilate to a new country and break into our first team training environment, eventually earning MLS playing time. This new contract will create more opportunities for him to contribute to the first team’s back line in the 2023 season and beyond.”

The 22-year-old left center back signed with Houston Dynamo 2 on April 21, 2022 from Brazilian Série A side Atlético Mineiro. The center back won the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro U-20 title and earned two appearances for the first team in league play.

He made his MLS NEXT Pro debut on May 8 in a 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids 2. He led the team to eight clean sheets in 17 appearances for Dynamo 2. He scored the game-winning goal in Houston’s 1-0 victory over Real Monarchs on May 25. The center back played a key role in securing three clean sheets in the final four regular season games to earn a berth for the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs.

Micael was one of three Dynamo 2 players to earn first team minutes in MLS last year. He made his first team debut in Houston’s 1-0 victory over Atletico de San Luis in the 2022 Dynamo Charities Cup. He made his MLS debut a few months later as a second half substitute on Aug. 13 against Club de Foot Montreal.
