HOUSTON (Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2023) – Houston Dynamo FC made two selections in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft \today, picking University of Virginia freshman forward \Stephen Annor Gyamfi with the No. 26 overall pick and Clemson University senior midfielder Ousmane Sylla with the No. 55 overall pick.
Selected in the first round, Annor Gyamfi, a member of the 2024 Generation adidas class, scored a team-high 10 goals, including a conference-best five game-winning scores. The forward was named the ACC Freshman of the Year and earned All-ACC first-team honors. The Ghana native appeared in 19 games for Virginia, Annor Gyamfi helped lead the Cavaliers to the third round of the NCAA tournament while becoming the first Virginia player to reach double-digit goals since former SuperDraft selection and United States Men’s National Team striker Daryl Dike scored 10 goals in 2019. Hailing from Accra, Ghana, Annor Gyamfi prepped at Montverde Academy in Florida.
Selected in the second round, Sylla appeared in 71 matches and started 58 in four seasons at Clemson. The Senegal native tallied 24 goals and 24 assists in his time with the Tigers, including careers highs in goals (13) and assists (10) during his senior season. Prior to playing collegiate soccer, Sylla played club soccer with the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy in Florida.
