Houston Dynamo FC travel to CITYPARK on Saturday for the first ever meeting with St. Louis CITY SC. Saturday’s match is scheduled for a 7:30 pm CT kickoff and this is the second of three road games for the Dynamo in a seven-day stretch.
Houston looks to bounce back after opening the road trip with a loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Wednesday. Dynamo forward Corey Baird scored his first goal of the season and fourth of the year to get the Dynamo level in the opening minutes of the first half. Amine Bassi scored his sixth goal of the season after he brought down a long ball from defender Daniel Steres in the first half. This was the first time Houston scored two goals in a road game this season, but they fell short 6-2 following uncharacteristic mistakes in their own half of the field.
Both teams enter the match above the playoff line in the Western Conference. St. Louis opened their inaugural season with five consecutive victories and enter with a 5-2-0 (WLD) record at home. Saturday’s game is the final match of a three-game stretch at CITYPARK and they defeated Vancouver 3-1 last Saturday for their eighth victory of the season.
Saturday will be the first time the team will face defender Tim Parker, who served as captain of the Dynamo from 2021-2022. Parker was traded to St. Louis on Nov. 11, 2022, for $500,000 in General Allocation Money. Parker has started in 12 of the 13 games St. Louis has played this season.
The three-game road trip continues Tuesday when the Dynamo travel to Bridgeview, Illinois to face Chicago Fire FC in the quarterfinals of the Open Cup. This is the first time both sides have met at SeatGeek Stadium since 2018. Houston won the last meeting between both teams 2-0 at home in 2022.
