The Houston Dynamo Football Club and Hess Corporation announced today a partnership to provide a free soccer and education summer program for local students in underserved communities. The program includes an awards system that recognizes outstanding local students with tickets and in-game experiences. In addition, Hess has been named an official Oil and Gas Partner of Houston Dynamo FC, the Houston Dash and Dynamo Charities.
Hess will sponsor a five-week Learn and Play summer program with Dynamo Charities for 50 children in the Third Ward neighborhoods that features soccer programming led by coaches from the Dynamo Youth Programs. Participants will learn about the science of sports and receive a free ticket to either a Dynamo or Dash game.
āOur partnership with Hess allows us to develop a deeper and more meaningful connection with our neighbors in the Third Ward,ā Houston Dynamo FC President John Walker said. āWe value partnerships such as this one, as they provide much needed care and attention to underserved communities throughout Houston.ā
The two organizations are also launching a new annual awards program called the āLearning for Life Achievement Awardsā to celebrate students from each of the 22 schools in the Second Ward, Magnolia Park and Third Ward neighborhoods that Hess supports for outstanding academic achievement, overcoming hardships, community service, strength of character and achievements.
āOur company has a proud history of social investment programs that make a positive and lasting impact on the communities where we operate,ā said Greg Hill, President and COO of Hess Corporation. āThis new partnership with the Dynamo strengthens our Hess Learning for Life education program by providing children in our neighborhood with fun, engaging opportunities to learn, grow and be inspired by world-class professionals from our organizations.āĀ Ā
Each student honoree will be invited to a āLearning for Lifeā Achievement Awards dinner jointly hosted by Dynamo Charities and Hess. As a reward for their hard work and commitment to learning, they will receive four tickets to the regular season match of their choice and get recognized on screen.
