Houston Dynamo forward Mark Sherrod was selected by Orlando City SC in the ninth round of the MLS Expansion Draft on Wednesday.
Sherrod, 24, scored two goals and tallied one assist in nine games (three starts) as a rookie with the Dynamo in 2014. A second-round pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, Sherrod suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in May and missed the remainder of the season after reconstructive surgery.
The Tennessee native scored 42 goals in four seasons at the University of Memphis and earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors in 2011.
