Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been named to the United States national team roster by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann ahead of the match between the U.S. and Mexico on April 2, it was announced today.
Davis will join the national team on Sunday in Phoenix following the Dynamo’s road game at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday. The U.S. and Mexico will meet on April 2 at University of Phoenix Stadium, with kickoff at 10 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas and the ESPN Deportes Radio Network. The match is the last before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup preparatory camp in May.
Davis, 32, has earned 13 caps with the U.S. men’s national team, including five appearances in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup and a start in a 2-0 friendly win over Korea Republic on Feb. 1 in which he earned as assist. Davis also provided two assists in the United States’ final qualifying match against Panama last October to secure a first place finish in the region.
Davis has started both games to open the 2014 regular season and help guide the Dynamo to a 2-0-0 start. The St. Charles, Mo. native recorded four goals and led the Dynamo with nine assists in 26 games in 2013 and was named an MLS All-Star for the sixth time.
