Houston Dynamo midfielder Memo Rodriguez was named to the 22-man gameday roster for the 2015 Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game by head coach Landon Donovan, the league’s all-time scorer. The MLS Homegrown Team will face the Club America U-20s at 8 p.m. CT on July 28 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado as part of the lead in to the AT&T MLS All-Star game the following night.
Rodriguez signed as the sixth Homegrown player in Dynamo history last December and has spent the 2015 season on loan with the Charleston Battery of USL, tallying one goal and one assist in 12 appearances. The El Campo native joined the Dynamo Academy in 2011 and was named Dynamo Academy Players’ Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. The central midfielder appeared in five MLS Reserve League games (three starts) in 2013 and trained with the Dynamo first team in the summers of 2013 and 2014 and was a member of the initial Dynamo Academy U-23 team last summer.
The Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game provides a yearly opportunity for MLS to showcase its top young talent and youth development system. MLS club youth academies have now produced nearly 150 Homegrown Players who have signed professional contracts with MLS clubs.
