The Houston Dynamo will open the 2015 MLS season on Saturday, March 7 at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Columbus Crew. The remainder of the Dynamo’s 34-game slate for their tenth season will be announced by the league at a later date.
The 2015 home opener against the Crew will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT. Columbus (14-10-10; 52 points) finished in third place in the Eastern Conference in the 2014 regular season, winning five of its last six games. The Crew were ousted in the Eastern Conference semifinals by the New England Revolution.
The Crew feature Argentine midfielder Federico Higuain (27 goals, 23 assists in 73 MLS games) and American midfielder Ethan Finlay (11 goals, 7 assists in 2014). Columbus’ roster also includes U.S. international defender and 2014 All-Star Michael Pankhurst and U.S. youth national team regular Wil Trapp.
The 2015 season marks the debut of Owen Coyle after he was appointed head coach of the Dynamo on Dec. 9. Giles Barnes is set to return after an award-winning season in which he collected Dynamo MVP, Players’ Player of the Year, Ironman of the Year and Golden Boot honors. Additionally, Honduras international midfielder Luis Garrido and four-time World Cup veteran DaMarcus Beasley will be with the club from the start of the season after joining last July.
The Dynamo will return to the Western Conference next year for the first time since 2010. The club will also face Toronto FC at BMO Field on May 10 for the Canadian side's home opener.
