The Houston Dynamo today announced the club and midfielder David Rocha have agreed to Mutual Termination of his contract due to personal reasons. Additionally, midfielder Leonel Miranda will depart the club following the conclusion of his loan from Club Atlético Independiente, which expired June 30.
“We’d like to thank Leo and David for their contributions during their time here in Houston,” Dynamo VP/general manager Matt Jordan said. “Each player leaves the club under different circumstances, and we wish them well moving forward.”
Rocha, 31, signed with the Dynamo on January 27 and appeared in six games in all competitions, with two starts in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Spaniard assisted on two goals in a 4-0 victory over San Antonio FC on June 15 and played 90 minutes and tallied a third assist in a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on June 29, his final appearance for the club. Rocha expressed a desire to return home to Spain for family reasons and the club accommodated his request.
Miranda, 22, returned to the Dynamo on a second loan on January 30 and appeared in 12 games this season (3 starts) and tallied one goal and one assist. The Argentinian scored three goals and added two assists in 32 regular season games (14 starts) over two seasons. He added two goals in the U.S. Open Cup, including a goal against San Antonio FC and played 90 minutes in the win over Sporting Kansas City last week, his final appearance with the club. Miranda’s six-month loan expired June 30 and the Dynamo were unable to come to terms with Club Atlético Independiente after extended negotiations.
