Tickets for the Houston Dynamo FC Round of 32 matchup in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against San Antonio FC are on sale now. The match will take place on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. CDT at PNC Stadium.
Houston Dynamo 365 Members will receive their seats at no cost as a benefit of their Membership. Tickets for the general public start at $10 and are available at HoustonDynamoFC.com/Tickets.
The match will be streamed live on ESPN+. Houston and San Antonio have met once before in the Open Cup, with the Dynamo winning 4-0 in the Round of 32 during the 2016 tournament.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is a single-elimination tournament to determine the champion of American soccer. Teams from every level of soccer are included, from local amateur and semi-pro sides up to Major League Soccer. Founded in 1914, the Open Cup is the oldest national soccer competition in the United States and the second-oldest team championship in American sports. The 2022 tournament is the 107th edition of the competition.
Houston advanced to the Round of 32 with a 2-1 win over Rio Grande Valley FC on April 19. Defender Sam Junqua scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes of stoppage time, his second goal for the Club, while goalkeeper Michael Nelson came through with a crucial save on a penalty kick midway through the second half to set the stage for Junqua’s game-winner.
San Antonio advanced to the next round by defeating Austin FC in extra time on Wednesday evening. San Antonio came from behind to level the game in the final 10 minutes of regulation and defeated their in-state rival courtesy of a goal from Carter Manley in the opening minutes of extra time.
The Dynamo captured the 2018 U.S. Open Cup, the club’s first title in the tournament, with a 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Union on September 26, 2018, at BBVA Compass Stadium (now PNC Stadium). The Open Cup title was the third domestic championship in Dynamo history and first since the club’s back-to-back MLS Cup titles in 2006 and 2007.
